Police Dog Nabs Suspect in Subway

A 6-year-old German shepherd police dog named Bear puts his own safety on the line every day to protect New Yorkers. Only recently, he got four broken teeth and his snout was swollen in the line of duty. Bear and his handler and partner, Officer Vincent Tieniber, are working for the Transit Bureau. Their job is to keep the NYC subways and other transportation safe.

When another transit officer called for backup to help disintegrate a fight among four women in the subway station on June 18th, Tieniber and Bear responded immediately. Unlike most people who back down whenever they see the dog, one of the women refused to do so. The suspect, Ravenia Matos-Davis, kicked the dog twice in the face.
