Cats find it really difficult to determine fine patters like humans do but it turns out that cats could actually distinguish optical illusions as seen in this video.

The cat responds to what is called the Rotating Snake Illusion or known as peripheral drift which sees the shapes starting to move and slither when you quickly look to the edge while blinking. This shows that cats can actually figure out the difference between random shapes and shapes that are aligned in a pattern.
