Florida Man Arrested for Shooting at Neighbor’s Cats

Florida Man Arrested for Shooting at Neighbor's CatsAndrew Straley of Lake Helen, Florida has been arrested for felony animal cruelty. He admitted to shooting his neighbor’s cats with pellets guns in an attempt to scare them away for leaving droppings in his yard. Unfortunately, he did more than just frighten the felines.
One of the cats had to be put down because the owner couldn’t afford to have the pellet lodged in its abdomen removed and its broken knee fixed. Another cat needed to have a huge chunk of its tail amputated.
“I’m still shocked that I have a cat that is no longer with us, and I have a cat that is missing about 8 to 10 inches of its tail,” said Mark Scanlan, whose family had raised the 10-month-old cats from birth.
During his daughter’s 13th birthday party, Scanlan said he noticed his bloody and wounded cats limping away from Straley’s home across the street. “I went over to the neighbor and asked if he had shot the cat by chance,” said Scanlan. “He admitted to it and said, ‘I have every right to. It’s in my yard.'”
