When you think of an aggressive dog, you immediately think “Rottweiler” or “Pit Bull”. Unfortunately, this fierce looking dogs have been stereotyped as hostile due to their fierce appearance or their breed’s involvement in illegal dog fighting rings.
The 3 Most Aggressive Dog Breeds
Surprisingly however, a study conducted by researchers in the University of Pennsylvania showed that out of 33 dogs they’ve surveyed, the funny-looking and seemingly harmless wiener dog, the Dachshund came out on top of the aggressive list. Second on the list was the tiny Chihuahua and third came the Jack Russel.
One of the teams researchers, Dr. James Serpell, believes that smaller breeds may be more genetically predisposed to aggressive behavior than their larger counterparts. Serpell says, “Reported levels of aggression in some cases are concerning, with rates of bites or bite attempts rising as high as 20 per cent toward strangers and 30 per cent toward unfamiliar dogs.”
